Phase 3
Presentation:
Tuesday 7th December
WHAT WILL I BE PRESENTING?

Kiera and I will be presenting our 3 distinct game ideas to the class to gather feedback and suggestions regarding which game we should refine and create our Project Proposal towards.
In the presentation I'd like to include a bit about our process and how we ended up with our 3 ideas, as well as prototyping and an explanation of each idea.

REQUIREMENTS
The requirements of this presentation is to present 3 distinct game ideas to the class. This presentation should essentially summarise phase 3 and result in our 3 concepts, 1 of which we will take forward into Phase 4.

To include:

-
Our reason for combining topics
-
Ideation methods - Lotus, Crazy 8 etc
-
Game elements within our themes
-
Project goals - what we aim to achieve
-
What is our Essential Experience?
-
Target Audience - reasoning, show personas
-
Research into Immersion - field trips, visits, Astrodome and Igloo
-
Idea generation
-
Prototyping videos - demonstrate how gameplay works/what happens etc
-
3 main ideas outline
WEEK 10 - Presentation
I will be preparing a presentation with my teammate Kiera to conclude Phase 3 and present our 3 distinct game concepts.

EKGAMES: PRESENTATION
OUR PRESENTATION

First half created by Kiera:
Project Aims
We introduced our project by outlining our Project Aims which involved making meaningful change and impacting ones mental health in a positive way.
Essential Experience
We then displayed our Essential Experience to represent the important elements of our experience and what we hoped to achieve from it. These are evident within our game ideas but this provides the listeners with reasoning for our choices.
Target Audience
We then outlined our target audience for this project and gave examples of those we are aiming the experience towards. We thought about our essential experience and who would benefit the most from it. This helps us to identify what our user needs and what will be most appropriate for them.

This gives listeners insight to who we are designing for - which is students, struggling with responsibility and workload who are in need of a space to manage these feelings.
Ideation Methods

We outlined our ideation methods and processes before establishing our 3 final concepts. Involving our process of sharing research, the Lotus methodology and other collaborative design tools.
Immersive Technology

We included our visits to both the Igloo (6m Cylinder) and Astrodome to show our efforts to finding new and innovative technology to help us build an immersive experience! We spoke about its possibilities such as gesture controls and motion sensors or physical controllers which we could consider implementing into our design.
Refining our Ideas
We then established our reasoning for narrowing down our ideas and showed our process in gathering suggestions and also creating gameplay loops for each one. We discussed these ideas and chose our final three based on which we thought were our strongest ideas.
Ideas & Prototyping

I then began presenting the first idea with the prototype video to follow. I outlined the basis of each game including possible interactions, what will happen in-game and the use of immersive elements such as surround sound and visual projections.
Ideas & Prototyping

I shared our second prototype for the same first idea to show how we refined the idea and came to terms with interactions that will happen around the room. This involved physical regulation techniques for example to breathe with the visual pulse in order to steady breathing.
Idea 2
I then shared our second idea and provided a visual mood-board to help the audience visualise our idea. We also provided them with a prototype video which shows how the game will play from a first person perspective. This included visuals and ambient music.
Our final idea

This last idea was based on our 2D mobile game. In order to present the basis of this game we played a stop-motion demonstration video with music to make the bullet points clearer! I also spoke about the purpose of each game and how we would tailor our game to be as accessible as it can in order to reach our desired audience.
GATHERING SUGGESTIONS

The suggestions and feedback gathered can be found within Phase 4, where I will be evaluating the suggestions and discussing with Kiera to take one final idea forward.
